Surgery is postponed

We have had to postpone Eli's surgery because of his respiratory problems.  He is using a nebulizer every four hours along with a steroid twice a day for his wheezing.  Hopefully we can reschedule in a few more weeks.  Otherwise things are going very well.  Eli can now get to a sitting, almost standing position from his back and tummy.  He is walking pretty well while holding one hand and has learned quite a few signs to let us know what he wants.  He also loves his babysitter Susanne who he gets to see two and a half days a week.  I was kind of disappointed with how easy the transition was for him once I went back to work!  We'll post the new surgery date as soon as we hear anything.

Early Halloween Fun

Children's Hospital

All went well at Children's in Madison on Friday.  Eli was such a trooper!  He was poked and prodded from 11:00 to well after 5:00.  We should find out the surgery date early next week.  He'll have his lip, hernia, tubes in his ears, and circumcision done all at once.  His palate surgery will be 8 weeks later.  

Halloween here we come!!

Thanks to Susanne, we have a great costume for Eli!  

The appointment at the audiologist went very well.  His hearing seems to be slightly below average, but that could very well be due to fluid in his ears or the perforations that he has.  We'll find out more at our appointment on Friday in Madison.  All three kids went to the appointment and Elise was in the backpack in the booth with us the whole time and didn't make a peep.  I think the doctor thought I must have drugged her!  Ella helped her run the test on the other side of the glass window. :)

Doctor visits

We are heading to the ear nose throat specialist today (yes, all three kids!!) to have Eli's hearing tested.  On Friday, we are heading to Madison to meet with the surgeon, speech therapist, and urologist at Children's Hospital.  We originally planned on going to Milwaukee, but after not hearing anything for over a week, and calling every other day, we decided to try Madison.  They were able to fit us in right away and were extremely helpful.  It will also be nice to be closer to family throughout these next few months.  

On a side note, Eli is now pushing Elise around the kitchen while she is eating muffins in her high chair.  Those two are hilarious!!!  Ella has also been such a huge help these past couple of weeks.  She is a great big sister.
